Wouldn’t dating be so much easier if we were all open about those preferences? Deaf dog finds his bark thanks to hearing sister Well, we thought we’d start the conversation, by gathering a group of men who were more than willing to open up to us about their ‘ideal woman’, their likes and dislikes, and the things that turn them on. Speaking to 7 different men of different ages and relationship status, we’ve received some great answers to questions we so desperately wanted the answers to. Meet the boys. Aaron, 21, single Ian, 29, single Ryan, 37, married Joe, 20, in a relationship for four years Alex, 21, single Nigel, 51, married Thomas, 21, single. 1. What’s the first thing that attracts you to a woman? Ian: ‘Call me a little old fashioned but usually eyes and smile.’ Joe: ‘I think personality can make or break someone. ‘It basically (in my opinion) enhances how beautiful a girl is or can make you see them completely differently. But if we are talking on a physical level then pretty eyes are almost hypnotic, plus a cute butt is always great.’ Thomas: ‘First thing what attracts me to a woman, I would have to say, their bum, or their eyes, I kill for them.’ 2. Can you describe the perfect personality? Ian: ‘Down to earth and practical about things like bills but can do childish things like having races skidding across a laminate floor. Should be open and honest even and really sarcastic. ‘She should use mature language and not be materialistic.’ Joe: ‘Kind, down to earth and passionate.’ Alex: ‘Laid back. Someone who has a good sense of humour and isn’t easily annoyed by things. ‘A girl that’s constantly wanting drama becomes more of a task and someone to look after rather than someone to spend time with. So someone who doesn’t take themselves to seriously.’ Nigel: ‘Caring, funny, positive, conscientious, considerate and homely.’ 3. Do you have a physical type? Aaron: ‘Actually yes, I really like brunettes that are kinda small and are a little pale.’ Ian: ‘Yes, usually like curves and green eyes and tattoos. Hair colour not so important.’ Nigel: ‘Brunette, about 5ft 6″ tall, nice bum, not too thin.’ Alex: ‘Darker features, I always go for brunettes. ‘Petite frame and being natural is a thing that really attracts me. Someone who isn’t overly stressed with putting make up on etc. I’d say Cara Delevigne is my idea of a perfect girl.’ Joe: ‘That’s easy! Alternative girls with tattoos and cute bohemian girls with dreads.’ 4. Which do you think is more important, looks or personality? Why do you think this? Aaron: ‘Personality is definitely more important because you need to be able to connect with the her rather than just be with her because she is attractive.’ Ian: ‘I think both are equally important. Looks for initial attraction and then personality to sustain a relationship.’ Alex: ‘Personality definitely, If I’m interested in a girl to begin with then I’d regardless have to find her attractive first, so if its going further then having someone who is on your level is vital.’ Ryan: ‘Personality 100%. I made the mistake of having an affair with a younger woman, who was very attractive, very physically fit and highly sexual. ‘Those things got my attention and held it for a while, but her personality was poisonous, and the other novelties quickly wore off.’ 5. What do you think are the most important features for a girl to have? Aaron: ‘As cliched as it sounds, the most important thing for a girl to be is herself.’ Joe: ‘This is beyond cheesy but to be herself. If she can be comfortable with who she is and truly be herself then that shows maturity, but a good sense of humour and intelligence also go a long way.’ Thomas: ‘Intelligent, funny and genuine and loyal, that’s what I look for in any woman.’ Ian: ‘Sense of humour and being grounded are both really important to me.’ Nigel: ‘Funny with good sense of humour, good with finances as in running the home budget. She’s attractive and have a good dress sense as they can help with my awful dress sense and not afraid to speak her mind.’ Alex: ‘Intelligence is the main one for me. There needs to be something there that means you can communicate about anything and everything. ‘When you go out with a girl it shouldn’t be a staring contest.’ 6. How long should a girl wait to have sex? Aaron: ‘Until she is completely ready to.’ Ian: ‘I don’t think you can put a time limit on it, if it feels right then why wait?’ Joe: ‘However long it takes until you feel ready, for us it was like two months. But looking back on it, it seems so fast yet at the time it felt like we had waited an eternity.’ Alex: ‘Whenever it feels right. There’s a stigma that really comes from previous generations that means a girl feels like they should be withholding sex until they find a potential boyfriend, but it shouldn’t still be the case. ‘In 2016, most people aren’t going to feel different about a girl because they wanted sex the same way they did.’ Nigel: ‘About 3 dates as I’m sure you know whether you like each other by then!’ 7. Why do you think men cheat when in a seemingly happy relationship with a nice girl? Thomas: ‘Many men cheat on a nice genuine woman, because she becomes a push over, and he believes he can get better sex elsewhere.’ Ian: ‘I don’t think this is just a male thing. Boys cheat on girls and girls cheat on boys.
